Steve Collins joined the police force in 1978 where he moved from plain-clothed to murder squad to finally becoming team leader of an SO19 squad (rapid-response firearms unit.) He left the force in 1996 and wrote the bestseller Good Guys Wear Black and Think Safe, Act Safe, Stay Safe. He is a weapons and police tactics expert.
